Wouldn't a bright sunny summer day or afternoon be the perfect time for a romantic tea party? I definitely think so! Do you drink coffee or tea? I personally like both and feel like each has its place. I'm not really the type of person that prefers one over the other. I love coffee in the morning, but tea gives me a sense of calm and relaxation. I also love the frills, luxury, and tradition that surrounds tea time. Having a tea party or taking time for afternoon tea is a way to relax, de-stress, and slow down from all of the tasks that we try to pack into our days.
If you haven't spent time taking a "proper" tea, I would definitely recommend it. It is like a little escape from the modern world, you find yourself slowing down and appreciating the little things in life and really enjoying a good conversation with the person you are having tea with. It has been one of the most relaxing and rejuvenating things I have ever done in my life. I know it sounds a bit like an over-exaggeration, but trust me, take 2 hours outdoors to enjoy a pretty table, tea, and delicious food and you will understand. ;)
So today I wanted to share a little tea party inspiration and some products and resources. These would be perfect for a lolita tea party or any girly and frilly tea party. The first tea set above is by luxury brand Royal Albert, it's so pretty and I love the pastel colors, polka dots, and roses. The pieces are sold individually and are pretty pricey. It is about $200 for a tea pot and a set of sugar and cream dishes. Given the price of this one, I wanted to share a more affordable set for people like me who want to have a pretty tea set, but don't want to spend $400. I found this "Fiona" tea set on englishteastore.com for only $80! You get everything you see including 6 cups, 6 saucers, sugar and cream dishes, a tea pot, and 6 dessert plates. I also looked online for reviews on the site and I found many positive reviews.
Everyone knows a tea party is never complete without finger foods and traditional tea sandwiches (like the cucumber sandwich). This site gives you many tea party finger food recipes. This site will inform you about throwing a proper tea party and tea party etiquette.
What do you think about tea time and tea parties?
