Kawaii Konpeito Candy Perfect for Spring

Kawaii Japanese Konpeito Candy in Bunny Dish

I know it really isn't quite Spring yet. Okay, that's an understatement. Today was my first day of my last semester at grad school, and it snowed pretty much all day today! Talk about a cold welcome back. The truth is, I can't wait to graduate with my MBA and just be done with school. Part of me is also really nervous about what will happen after I graduate, so you can say I'm ready to be done with school but there is a certain comfort that comes with its familiarity.

And even if it doesn't feel like Spring outside yet, I'm looking forward to the warmer weather. These kawaii konpeito candies add so much brightness to my desk that I almost feel a little warmer.

I've been wanting to try these little star burst shaped Japanese candies for a long time. I first saw them in the Studio Ghibli movies and then in a lot of other kawaii inspired things - even accessories from Chocomint.

I finally decided to go on the hunt for some, and found both of these bags on ebay. I just *had* to have the Little Twin Stars edition because of its cute pastel packaging. Every candy is individually wrapped in a LTS decorated wrapper. Don't you think these candies fit the LTS theme perfectly? They are also a lot larger than the other bag I bought, which is filled with tiny konpeito. Which are unfortunately so easy to pop in your mouth at a rapid pace ^^

I found this adorable little bunny dish at Forever 21 last week. I'm pretty sure it is meant for small jewelry items, but when I saw it, I almost felt like it was destined for my pretty konpeito which I promptly placed around the bunny, with each half having its own kind. I also love that it looks really vintage and spring-like. ^^

As for the taste - konpeito tastes exactly like American "rock candy" - pure sugar! Yummy. Have you ever tried or seen konpeito? What do you think of it?
