Nail Day Monday: F21 Checkerboard Nails

Forever 21 Nail Stickers: Black and White Checkerboard Nail Art

For this week's nails, I decided to be adventurous and try something new! And, hey, look at that, it actually worked out pretty well! ^^ I'm sure by now a lot of you have tried or at least seen the Sally Hansen nail polish strips at the drugstore. They come in all sorts of cool colors and prints and even glitter ombre, and range from $8.50 to $12.50 per pack of 16. I tried them last year, and have to say really liked them. I tried a simple gold glitter and got tons of compliments. They lasted a long time (around 8 days) and lacked the usual hassle that comes with some glitter nail polishes. I haven't really purchased any more since then because of the price and I wanted to experiment more with painting my own nail art, which has been a ton of fun! ^^

Anyway, last week my boyfriend and I were at Forever 21 when I spotted their "nail stickers" at the checkout in several different prints. They cost $1.80 for 12, so I decided to give them a try. I chose these cool silver glitter and black checkerboard print ones since I have really been liking everything houndstooth and checkerboard lately.

I went home and tried these out a few days later. I applied them to clean nails according to the package instructions. I realized that these are in fact plastic and not nail polish. They do file off at the tip of the nail to form and pretty good fit, but seemed like they might peel off in less than a day due to the weak adhesive. So I decided to add a clear top coat, just in case. I'm glad I did, because so far these have lasted 3 full days with no problems and a few compliments.

I think that even if they last only 5 days, they would be worth it for $1.80 a package. So I would buy them again. What do you think of these nails? Have you tried the Sally Hansen strips or F21 nail stickers?
